Vacation Bible School
Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God's World Comes Together
June 25 & 26 from 9-2:30, Lunch and snacks are provided.
June 27 from 9-11:30 am.
We are very excited about VBS this year! It is a carnival with a good neighbor theme. We will have carnival games, cool take home "stuff," snow cones, cotton candy, crackerjacks, soft pretzels . . .
Each of the 5 sessions focuses around a different country: Zimbabwe, Japan, Australia, Mexico, and the UK with a different Bible story each time: Sarah and Abraham, Elijah and the widow, the Good Samaritan, Zacchaeus, and Peter and Cornelius in the early Christian Church.
Children are encouraged to wear sunscreen and play clothes - sometimes we have messy crafts at Bible School.
Fun Fair invites children entering kindergarten through fifth grade to participate. Middlers finishing sixth grade through eighth grade will have carnival fun at Middler Madness.
There is no charge. Please register at the Crossroads on Sundays or email Jan

Tips For Seniors
I recently met a man at a service plaza in Kansas who was driving a forty-foot motor home. He was quick to brag saying, "I'm 85 years old and still going strong." His spritely demeanor helped reinforce my conviction that age alone should not determine who should or should not be operating a motor vehicle. Obviously, we all age differently so when is it time to stop driving and who gets to decide? For persons with aging parents, the battle for the car keys is often a familiar scenario and one that becomes even more difficult when the parent refuses to cooperate. Deception, hiding the car keys or withholding a renewal notice from the Secretary of State are all unwise tactics because, once trust is lost, it is not easily restored.
A better solution is to discuss age-related changes openly with your older parent, well in-advance. Acknowledging the day will come when the advantages of self-driving are outweighed by the safety risk posed to self and others, older drivers may agree in-advance to forfeit their car keys voluntarily, when a trusted friend or relative has determined they should either stop driving entirely or continue driving, with restrictions. The driver, his/her designated adviser and a witness all sign a Safe Driver Agreement, in which the driver pledges to listen and accept the adviser's decision. Advisors must be sensitive to the fact that personal freedom and loss of control are major issues for persons who have lived independently their entire lives. Arranging alternative means of transportation is often helpful in persuading a loved one to participate in the agreement. A PDF version of this Safe Driving Agreement may be found at:

Pentecost Offering
The PENTECOST OFFERING will be received for a month beginning on Pentecost Sunday, May 19th, through mid June. This Offering allows us to make an impact in our own backyard-in a manner of speaking. The 40% we retain will be directed to help offset costs for our 13 youth who are planning to attend the Youth Triennium. The scholarships will help greatly with the cost. We were encouraged to use the 25% we retained from the October Peacemaking Offering to support peace-in our own backyard. We sent the 25% of those receipts to the Littlefield Presbyterian Church for the Peace Camp they hold annually for the children andyouth in the Dearborn, MI area. They've been doing this for more than a decade. You may also remember the Rev. Karen Zurakowski's picture on one of the inserts---she was teaching 'art' to the children who attended the Peace Camp.
Again, we are excited that 13 of our youth will be attending the Triennium in West Lafayette, IN at Purdue University. This event occurs once every three years and several thousand youth attend. You may remember the 'report' our youth have given through the years. We will look forward to the 'report' from the youth who will be attending this summer. It truly is an amazing experience for our youth. You may place your offering in the envelopes (located in the pew racks or on the poster) and remember we retain 40%... mark in the memo portion of your check 'Pentecost' and it will arrive at its destination. Your prayerful gifts are most appreciated. For more detailed information on all four of our PCUSA special offerings visit
