 Tips For Seniors

A young Indian boy and his wise and aged grandfather were crouched beside a stream, observing the movement of a large school of fish when the young brave suddenly exclaimed, "Grandfather, let's jump into the water and catch a fish!"  Hesitating for a moment, the wise, old man turned slowly to the boy and whispered: "Little Brave, It is better to move slowly, like the great blue heron, and catch them all."           (Chief Runamuck)

Which of the following myths about senior citizens are true?
1.Older workers are less capable than younger ones.
2.You cannot teach an old dog new tricks.
3.After age 65, health and activity go downhill.
4.Most older people are neglected by their families.
Answers:
1.Studies have shown older workers are more loyal, take fewer days off, can learn computers just as fast and are more committed than younger workers.
2.Older persons can learn a new trick, if they are convinced the new trick is better than the old one.
3.People age at different rates and in different ways. Aging doesn't necessarily mean "going downhill."
4.Although there are some exceptions, most older adults are cared for by their adult children, when they require assistance.

Game Day - Wednesdays,  4-6 pm
Meet in the west side of the Fellowship Hall to play Euchre, Canasta, Mahjong, Dominoes, or bring your own game.  Guests are always welcome.
One Great Hour of Sharing

Do you know how the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering began? Immediately following World War II, Protestant churches in the United States made appeals for the relief and reconstruction of areas devastated by the war, primarily in Europe and Asia. In 1949, the leaders of several denominations formed a committee to organize an appeal to support their churches' separate campaigns.

A program called "One Great Hour" was broadcast on March 26, 1949, over major networks and many independent stations. The broadcast closed with a a request that listeners attend their local church the following morning and make a sacrificial contribution. No exact measure of receipts was possible, but it was estimated that more than 75,000 churches participated.

By giving to One Great Hour of Sharing you make a conscious decision to bring the joy and love of Christ to the most vulnerable and desperate  places and people around the world. Envelopes are located in the pew racks. Please note: OGHS in the memo line of your check. Your gifts and prayers are most gratefully received and appreciated.
