ART CAMP

Encinal

Pacific

Dear Parents

Art Camp began with a swirl, a swoosh and a splatter! Pacific students enjoyed sponge painting, finger painting, noodle painting, making coffee filter butterflies, celery stock stamping and paper plate faces! They made popsicle stick picture frames that will be decorated next week. Next week they will also be creating art with modeling clay and painting with feathers. The shelves are filled with art supplies and projects such as water color paints, making necklaces, making bracelets and coloring. Hands and minds are busy with the spirit of creativity. All of the students are also working together on a "Big Picture." We cannot wait until you see our fantastic art!

Encinal campers began their first week with planned art projects where they learned about techniques using various mediums. During the second week of camp, children will be given tools to create their own artistic ideas. They had fun painting with sponges, fingers and celery stalks. They created paper plate faces and coffee filter butterflies. We are working on mural making, shaving cream painting, creating a face, clay imprints with natural materials and ladybug creations. Next week, we will be making robots and things that go, doing crumpled paper art and even saran wrap art. In the afternoons, Encinal campers learn Origami  while Pacific campers work with modeling clay sculpture.

Next week, there will be an art gallery visit: with a walking field trip to Redux, as well as a discussion of art history (including Van Gogh) and we will all prepare for our art exhibit on Friday. Our end of art camp "Open House" gallery will be held from 2-5pm with refreshments. Please come by and visit. This 'unique' gallery is free - free admission and mostly free art. Please take home the pieces created by your child. Group art is a silent auction bid.

We can use 'framers' - if you can assist with cutting paper or gluing onto art pieces to frame art, please let us know.

Thank you!

Dear Summer Parents,

We have decided to send our Enewsletter for all sessions to all of our Summer Parents so that parents of children enrolled in the current camp can see what their children are doing and parents of children enrolled in a different camp can get a good idea of what each of our camps has to offer.  If you prefer to be removed from our list please email the Encinal office at thechildunique@yahoo.com.
