Room to Grow NEW YORK Spring 2015 NEWS |
|
Dear Friends,
It's an exciting time for early childhood work. Authors, researchers, educators, and politicians have all voiced their strong support for early childhood education because of its incredible potential to break the cycle of poverty for good. Poverty is expensive - both socially and economically - and early interventions, like Room to Grow, continue to yield significant returns on investment. Please see our 2014 Annual Report to learn more about our recent and current projects. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Warmly,
Allyson Crawford Executive Director, New York

Did you know that Room to Grow families are nearly 2x more likely to read at home daily with their children than their low-income peers? Promoting early literacy builds a strong foundation for school readiness and future learning. Read more about our impact and 2014 milestones in our recent Annual Report.

Julia's Story
|
|
When Julia first came to Room to Grow, she was living in a shelter. An immigrant from Uganda and a survivor of violence, Julia is a hard working and loving mother to her son. With the support and guidance she has received from Room to Grow, she set goals with confidence and made a commitment to herself and to her family to succeed. Now, three years later, Julia is a successful graduate of our program. Her family currently lives in their own apartment and is thriving. She is also attending school full-time, working towards a degree to become a nurse. Her son is doing well in preschool and greatly enjoys reading books!

"My family has benefited tremendously from the parenting guidance
we have received. It has helped us grow through our toughest
experiences as first time parents."
