Room to Grow NEW YORK
Fall 2014 NEWS

Dear Friends,

As the end of the year approaches, we at Room to Grow have already begun to reflect on how successful 2014 has been for our families and for our organization. We have served over 350 babies and their families, raised awareness about the importance of early childhood work, and developed unprecedented organizational capacity and efficiency.

On behalf of our client families, our board, and the team at Room to Grow, we want to acknowledge our committed donors, volunteers, and other supporters who have dedicated time and energy to help us provide a strong foundation for babies born into poverty.

During this holiday season, I hope you will continue to think about the families in New York City who need our support and renew your commitment to making a positive impact in their lives through supporting Room to Grow. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season, and look forward to staying in touch as we embrace the new year.

Warmly,

Allyson Crawford

Celebrating a Year of Milestones
Annual Power Breakfast Exceeds Expectations!
Give the Gift of Play by Donating Toys

This season, we honor the Room to Grow families who have seen their children speak their first word, read their first book, piece together their first puzzle, or cozy up happy and healthy during their first winter. These small but extremely meaningful firsts are the milestones that Room to Grow families accomplish with our support.

As you think about your annual giving this season, please consider deepening your commitment to Room to Grow with a year-end donation that will help us launch the new year with fortitude.

Room to Grow's annual fundraising breakfast, held at City Winery on October 29th, was an outstanding success. We exceeded our goals, raising over $130K! The lively discussion between Brooke Shields and Gretchen Rubin on the topic of happiness generated spirited conversation amongst our 175 attendees. Thank you to everyone who attended and showed their support for Room to Grow!

Our end-of-year toy drive is in full speed! Give Room to Grow children the opportunity to imagine, learn and play. You can help by donating new or nearly new toys appropriate for children from newborn to three years old; organizing a collection drive; or purchasing B kids toys at a participating retailer and a portion of the proceeds will be used to donate toys to Room to Grow.

Room to Grow's 2014 Inspiration Award Recipient

Jennifer Daly was honored at Room to Grow's annual Power Breakfast for her strong and successful partnership with Room to Grow. Jennifer first visited Room to Grow in November 2012, the week of Hurricane Sandy.  Her baby was due on November 17th and was diagnosed prenatally with a severe congenital heart defect that required surgery within days of birth...and all of her high risk medical records were underwater at NYU.

Room to Grow social worker La Shell Wooten worked to find Jennifer new high risk OB doctors and specialists at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with appointments arranged for the next day.  Nathaniel Daly was born on November 17th and had his first surgery only seven days later, followed by three more surgeries over the past two years.

Jennifer has worked tirelessly, fueled by all the information Room to Grow has shared with her over the years, to help Nate to reach his milestones. A very happy mom, Jennifer has impressively balanced the challenges, worries and parenting responsibilities of being a new mother while obtaining her degree and caring for Nate's unique medical issues.

You are invited to an exclusive Holiday Trunk Show at Diana Warner NY benefitting Room to Grow! The show is from 10am-8pm on both November 11th or 12th, with a scotch tasting by Flatiron Wines and Spirits held between 5-8pm. Ten percent of all proceeds will go directly to our programs.

We have been honored with one of the first

Top-Rated Awards of 2014 from GreatNonprofits!
