Have you gotten used to writing 2015 yet? It seems it always takes me about a week in January to get into the habit of writing the correct year, but then it becomes as natural as breathing (like all habits are.) If you're trying to start other new habits, or rid yourself of some old ones, it just takes time and practice, as we all know.
This year I'm using a page from my fashionista calendar as a focus to help us create good new habits throughout the year. (If you aren't familiar with my calendar, there's more info about it below.) The page in January says "Go Out There and Be Amazing", which I think is just a great new habit to start the year with.
You may be asking yourself, "Just how do I go out there and be amazing each and every day?" Well, I've got some ideas for you to make this new little habit a bit easier and they're all about focus. I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and have some fun amazing everyone (especially yourself!)

BE AMAZING
The idea of "be amazing" each and every day may sound a little daunting. We mostly know how to step it up when we have a special occasion, but to amaze every day? Hmmm...that's another story. But it doesn't have to be as difficult as we imagine and the key, as I mentioned above, is focus. While none of us, including models and actresses, have a perfect body, we all have an area or two that we like about ourselves. The key is to focus on - accent - those areas and don't worry so much about the other areas. When we draw attention to our assets, it becomes easier to be amazing because we feel better inside, first of all, and that radiates throughout our whole being.
Decide what area(s) you want to focus on and then try a few of these tips. My recommendation: your face should always be a focus because that's the window to who you are - you want to draw the eye to your eyes; add in one other area at a time for a secondary focus. It doesn't even have to be the same area every day - if you're loving all of your gorgeous self, then shift the focus depending on your mood and the occasion. Conversely, if there are areas you don't want to emphasize, then take note of the tips below and avoid those wearing items that will call attention to those particular areas.
It's actually quite easy to keep the focus on the face. Of course, I'm sure you've got a face-flattering haircut and color already. (If you need an update, that should be first on your list.) Try popping on a hat or some hair accessories. Bold earrings in your eye color will definitely flatter (guys can wear a tie that features their eye color.) If you've been wearing pale or nude lipstick, a brighter color will keep the focus more on your face. If you wear glasses, get some in an unexpected color or shape (maybe try a harlequin or cat eye, just for fun.)
Notice the Neck
Long, full chandelier earrings
Asymmetrical collars
Long scarves wrapped multiple times for drama
Small scarves tied at the neck, 60's style
Sparkly or statement necklaces
Busting with Pride
Bustiers under sheer blouses
Tops in jersey knit
Blouses in strong prints that contrast with neutral bottoms
Form-fitting dresses with scoop or v-necks
Flaunt your great shoulders with a boat-neck top. Likewise a cap sleeve calls attention to the shoulder, as does a top with cut-outs on the upper arm. A color-blocked dress or top with the emphasis on the shoulder area is very flattering. To build up this area you can wear a jacket with a little padding along the shoulder line.
Showcase the Waist
High-waisted trousers with wide legs
Belts - wide or skinny - in bright or contrasting colors to your garment
Skirts - pencil or pleated, with tucked in top
Highlight the Hands
Colorful or dark nail polish
Chunky cocktail rings
Stacked bangles
Show off those stems with a pencil skirt, or patterned or textured hosiery. Brightly colored jeans highlight the legs, as do stunning heels or ankle-straps.
If you'd like a little help focusing on your assets, let me know.

Since we're talking this month about being amazing, there's really nothing more amazing than sequins, is there? There's no reason to pack them away just because the holidays are over. This article shares some great ways to work them into your every day wardrobe.
If your purse is weighing you down, it's time to lighten the load. I know my shoulders and neck remind me whenever my purse is getting to be a bit too much. that will give you a giggle.

A GIFT CERTIFICATE IS THE PERFECT GIFT TO GIVE AND TO RECEIVE.
I'm happy to provide gift certificates that can be used for closet clean-ups, wardrobe consultations, or personal shopping - whatever the recipient would like. Please keep this in mind for your loved ones (even if that loved one is you!)
I mentioned my fashionista calendar before, so here's a little clarification. I created this small monthly calendar, with each page providing some fashionable inspiration for you throughout the year. If you've had an appointment with me within the last month (thank you!), you'll be receiving one of these in the mail shortly. BUT, if you book an appointment with me within the next month, I'll bring one of these calendars to you at our appointment. They're really quite cute, if I do say so!
