5 Easy Ways to "Summerize" Your Wardrobe
|
|
While the official first day of summer isn't here yet, it seems that almost everyone I talk to is definitely ready for the season, at least mentally. Proms and graduations are soon to be behind us and we can really start to enjoy this beautiful season, with it's promise of vacations (whether far-flung or of the 'stay-cation' variety), BBQ's, some good 'beach reads', and just the enjoyment of family, friends, and the flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables that are so abundant now. If you haven't yet "summerized" your wardrobe, this issue has a few easy tips to get you started. Happy June!

5 Easy Ways to "Summerize" Your Wardrobe
Summertime is a great time of year because, as the song says, "The living is easy." And in my view, so is dressing for the season. Here are a few ideas to instantly kick-start your summer.
-The first is easy - add in some white. There's a 'white' for everyone and so many ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Accessories, shoes, capris....I recently wrote more about this tip in one of my recent blog posts. -Add in a print or solid-colored shirt in a lighter or brighter hue than you normally wear. I recently purchased an orange-and-white checked shirt at Old Navy that has a great fit, was very affordable, washes and wears beautifully, and besides all of that, is just plain cheerful. Besides checks, stripes and polka-dots are perennial summer favorites - you'll find a wide selection of colors and price points to choose from.
-Brighten or lighten up your nail polish. If you typically wear a darker shade during the colder months, switch to a brighter shade or go for a fun pastel.
- Maxi-mize yourself. With a maxi-skirt or dress, you instantly transform into summer-ready. Top off the skirt with a fitted tee and cardi or denim blouse, pop on some colorful wedges and you're good to go. This is one look that can transcend generations, depending on the print and the upper-body coverage. (If you've never tried this look, or are hesitant, give me a call or an email. I'll help get you started.)
 - Summer jewelry makes such a statement. Try putting away your precious jewels for a while and indulge in some fanciful costume jewelry. A piece or two transforms a simple tee and capris into something special.
Now go have some summer fun (and call if you need additional help in transitioning into summer or with your travel packing!)

How to Wear Women's Hats ....This little primer on how to wear hats could be very helpful if you've ever thought you didn't really look good in hats. Even if you think you look smashing, you might still pick up some useful tips. I especially enjoyed reading her definitions for the various hat styles. Example: "Cowboy Hat: Originally developed for cattle herders, it has evolved into a signal that you are attending a bachelorette party."
Last month I gave you the 10-minute workout...now here's one for 7 minutes, which of course you can repeat any number of times. The beauty of this one is it's perfect for when you're traveling, don't have a fitness center to go to, or just want to squeeze in a mini-workout in the middle of your day. And if you upload the interval timer "Seconds", you can program in intervals for the time you want and the music you want. The one thing it won't program in is any excuses!
Check out this handy little chart for necklace lengths - this would be useful if you ever shop on-line and need to visualize just where that lovely item will lay on your chest.

Whatever your plans for your vacation this summer, make sure it's something you love. Sure, we have to take the needs of our family members into consideration, but carve out a little something for yourself that gives you special enjoyment. This photo perfectly sums up my views on vacation - as long as I'm not camping I can pretty much enjoy anything. Have a wonderful start to your summer!
All my best to all of you!
