Six Ways to "Re-Solve" in 2013

Greetings!

Happy 2013! You've probably already given some thought as to what you'd like to do...or not do...or change...or improve in the coming year. I don't know about you, but I feel like I make some of the same resolutions every year. A-a-a-g-h!  With that in mind, I thought I'd take a fresh approach to what I "re-solve" to do this year. Maybe some of these ideas will speak to you too?

Weed out the "baggies, saggies or pinchies". If it doesn't fit, you don't want it in your closet.

Give your shoes a 'spa day' - take them in for a polish (yes, women, we need to do this too!) and replace heel tips if necessary.  I recently had my knee boots polished and what a difference - they look brand new!

Retake your measurements so you'll be a better shopper. This will be extra-valuable if you do a lot of shopping on-line where you may need to compare your numbers to the sizing numbers used by various manufacturers, especially non-US sizing. Click HERE for a useful on-line conversion chart!

Browse some magazines and clip out images that especially appeal to you. Spend some time thinking about what drew you to them - was it color, shape, texture? Think about incorporating some of those aspects into your wardrobe.

For example, this picture is one I just loved on Pinterest.  Now, typically I'm not a lace and ruffles gal, so why would I select this particular photo as one to save?  Because I do love drama in dressing, and I think the back of this dress is spectacular. That's the element that spoke to me.

Visit a store or two you've never shopped in before - venture out of your comfort zone and try on 5 items you've never thought of wearing in the past. Surprise yourself!

Don't get stale - get style! Get regular infusions of energizing ideas and motivation - browse new websites and blogs (as a start, sign up for mine for weekly beauty and style-talk.)

If you need some help getting started this year, give me a call at 415-729-1008 or email me.  We all need a little boost now and then - just trying these few 'baby-step' concepts will get your new year off to a great start!

"Stepping onto a brand-new path is difficult,
but not more difficult than remaining in a situation
which is not nurturing to the whole woman."
Maya Angelou

New years typically lead to changes that we vow to make in our lives. While some changes are more difficult than others, if we look at them in the framework of this quote by Maya Angelou it might be just a bit easier to get started. If the changes we're going to make will be much better for us - more nurturing to our whole self - than remaining stuck in an old rut or routine, it's so much easier to start, and then stay with, the new "re-solve".  Whatever you're planning for your new year, and however you motivate yourself and chart your progress, just take the first step or two and then hang on for the ride.  (It might help to yell, "WOO-HOO!!" now and then!)

All my best to all of you!
