American Repertory Ballet has an extremely exciting spring season in store, and it begins this month with In Full Bloom at The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College - March 23 at 8:00pm. Tickets: rvccarts.org, 908.725.3420.
This performance features the world premiere of Douglas Martin's Rite of Spring plus Caress, a new commission by Patrick Corbin (choreographer of ARB repertory favorite Follia), and Resident Choreographer Mary Barton's Five Men and a Concerto. Classical lines, improvised athleticism, rhythmic precision, typewriters (yes, you read correctly), fab fashions, Stravinsky, and Vivaldi - all in one innovative and inspiring program.
If you can't make that show, don't worry, you can still catch Rite of Spring and Caress at South Orange Performing Arts Center on April 5 at 8:00pm in Viva Spring where Gerald Arpino's Viva Vivaldi will round out the program. Tickets: sopacnow.org, 973.275.1114.
