Some events are so huge, in the history of mankind, that it takes time to take in the weighty reality of their magnificence. On Eidul Fitr week, the Muslim community in Orlando marked such an event, one that will God willing be the spring board for many, many more new beginnings. This event, held on Saturday July 25th, 2015, was the Intra-Faith Imam Eid Luncheon, hosted by UMF with the generous support of Dr. Khalid and Rahat Latif, where Imams, Sheikhs, Maulanas, and Religious Directors of Masaajid and Muslim organizations from all over Orlando (pictured above) came together to share in a meal together, to sign the UniTea Campaign pledge, and to share with one another of their services and discuss how they can work together. As one Imam put it "I've lived here for over 20 years and never seen an event like this. This is the first time we have gotten together from different masaajid and I cannot thank the organizers and sponsors enough for putting this event together." The impact of this event will insha-Allah be felt throughout the Orlando Muslim community, and has forever changed us, as we work together to make the world we live on, move in the direction of peace.  #ISupportUniTea

Last month at Breakfast Club, we celebrated 3 homeless children's birthdays with beautiful cakes and gifts and many colorful balloons, delicious breakfast cooked hot on site and served by those young, and a little less young, and a beautiful bicycle which we gifted to a little girl who is homeless.

We delighted children and their moms as we sang for the birthday children as they cut cake, and gave out balloons and toys. We even had a donation of a baby playpen that we set up at the shelter, four tables lined with cute stuffed animals, that were swiped away by children excited to have toys to play with, and many clothes and other items that were bagged and taken away by those who needed them.

One of our young volunteers, age 11, said he was inspired to come again and again to volunteer because of how he felt when he saw that one of his neighbors who was a friend, had ended up at the shelter we serve at.

Join us at our next Breakfast Club August 15th alongside volunteers who give of their early weekend mornings, as we interact with the needy, sharing words of inspiration and encouragement to feed longing hearts. #UMFBreakfastClub #MyProjectIsUSA

UMF channeled $2,000 of donor zakat funds, in a matter of hours upon receiving the below request last month, through Muslimat Al Nisa, to help reunite a homeless Muslim woman with her four children, who would otherwise be taken by child protective services and be placed permanently in foster care.
