Salaam Alaikum (Peace Be Upon You)

Something smells fishy at UMF! It's either the shoes from our kids who've started back to school here in Florida, excited to have their library filled with books to read, or our Guides gearing up for their field trip to SeaWorld!

We are humbled by the recognitions given to us by the Rescue Outreach Mission as well as Families in Transition, both UMF partners in the fight against hunger and homelessness. And we are equally excited at how our UMF Teen Portal has taken off in just a year, benefitting youth from as far as the UK and Indonesia to Egypt and Pakistan!

We've got an Sharia Finance Uni'tea event lined up for September InshaAllah, and our new Operations Manager, Saud Inam, looks forward to meeting you all soon.  But that's not all! This month, UMF HungerTeam expands to the Rescue Outreach Mission's men's center to serve even more in need. It sure is a busy time of the year, and we hope we'll be seeing you around at all our upcoming events.

Making a Difference!

Alhamdulil-Lah, for the first time in seven years, Seminole County has seen a drop in student homelessness of 11.5% - attributing to organizations like UMF!

Beth Davalos, of Families in Transition, comments  "Thank you. This would NOT be possible without UMF support. It takes a village." We're thankful to UMF donors, volunteers and supporters to have made this difference! Read the article here

UMF ECRA (Encouraging Children to Read Ahead) launched on August 7th at Midway Elementary School's 'Meet Your Teacher' event with much excitement. Parents were eager to learn about how are providing resources within the community and see how Muslims give back!    With support as far as the Middle East, UMF is proud to report that we raised over $1,200 for ECRA and collected over 250 books during our Ramadan Book Drive.   Our monthly Breakfast Club expands to the men's shelter this month with Muslims of all backgrounds, joining hands to serve even more needy in Sanford, Florida.

UMF is also excited to have promoted local Muslim business, Cozee Cafe through participation in Seminole County's 'Back 2 School Bash.'   Through UMF's facilitation, Cozee Cafe generously provided meals for this local event to support the needy.   In-kind donations directly to the community provides businesses with the ability to give back as well as grow.

UMF GUIDES Guides

UMF Guides are having a whale of a time this month learning the stories of Prophet Jonah, and enjoying Qur'anic Fish tales from Suratul Kahf and the story of the People of the Sabbath. There sure is a lot of anticipation building up for our upcoming field trip to SeaWorld with all the fishy things going on at Guides!

Congratulations to Aamir Hasham, Fatema Ali and Mujahid Janmohammed who completed Ramadhan worksheets featuring all the good deeds they did in the month of Ramadhan and Got to know the Elderly in the Community whom they interviewed during Ramadhan.
