Will you support our venture to 'ECRA'?
'ECRA' is the first glorious word of God revealed by Angel Gabriel, to our Holy Prophet. This word is an imperative to 'Read'. What better gift can we give children than a love of reading? In this Holy month of Ramadhan, with the magnificent nights of Qadr, take a moment to reflect on the power of reading, and the power of this revelation. You have the power to help urge children to read to success with your donation to UMF's 'ECRA' (Every Child Reading Ahead). We are blessed to be working with a local public school to offer this new incentive program InshaAllah, once we raise our goal of $10,000 this Ramadhan. We have almost 700 children in a school with 77% of the students on free and reduced lunch excited about 'ECRA'. Will you support our venture to 'ECRA'?

UMF GUIDES ARE MAKING WAVES Providing Spiritual Support
UMF Guides have been very busy! We're reminiscing on our Etiquette Class! Etiquette Class Instructor, Mrs. Samuels commented on "how impressed she was with the fact that our little Guides sat through the two hours presentation with such decorum and good manners, and how it was a result of the fact we're doing a great job bringing them up."
UMF Guides started Ramadan by breaking iftaar together, hosting Saturday bake sales at Husseini Islamic Center (Florida), designing Ramadan Book Drive collection boxes and are spending the summer working on our "Adopt-a-Grandparent" project. It's not too late to sign up! E-mail umfguides@unitedmuslimfoundation.org

In Loving Memory of Nargis (Shirin) Jeevraj Shirin Aunty, as everyone fondly called her at UMF, was one of UMF's selfless volunteers who pioneered UMF Hungerteam in PA. She was one amazing cook, and put her art into serving the needy. From setting up soup kitchen events at the local Allentown Salvation Army to gathering volunteers and donations in the Tri-State area to help those less fortunate, she would always put her heart and smiles into UMF's endeavors and make every event fun to be at. Shirin Aunty reached out to help the poor, even when she was very ill with cancer and always had a smile in her voice, even before she passed away. Please keep her in your duas this Ramadhan and consider a donation to UMF Hungerteam in her loving memory.

UMF HUNGERTEAM HELPS THE HOMELESS
Providing Physical Support
HungerTeam is ever-evolving to the needs of the community. This fall, we launch our most dynamic program yet, UMF ECRA! UMF ECRA (Encouraging Children to Read Ahead), is the first Muslim-led reading incentive program for a public school. Combing reading and writing skills, elementary students redeem points earned for reading at, or above grade level for prizes! From school supplies to branded toys, we're building a generation of empowered readers! That's not all! UMF HungerTeam collects non-perishables for Midway's Pantry, year-round, and because of YOUR donations, Midway's Pantry program has extended through the summer months! UMF HungerTeam serves the homeless at Rescue Outreach Mission twice a week as well as cooks up a hot breakfast every 3rd Saturday! Sign up to volunteer!
