The close of another lunar year, brings both sorrow and joy. Amazing UMF volunteers and donors who have passed away this year are sorely missed as we move forward into a new year, reflecting on all the joys we have achieved through our work thus far.
Sometimes, it's hard for our friends and supporters to grasp how much we do, and how we possibly do it all. UMF is, in a nutshell: Unity through Community Service & Development. We develop strong networks with Muslims across the USA and UK to urge grass roots service to the communities we live in. Our UniTea project, which we have partnered with ISNA and MPAC to launch this month, encapsulates the work we do at UMF.
We hope you will hold our hand and walk with us into the next year, as we continue to work hard to serve the community through UMF Hungerteam, ECRA, Teen Portal and UniTea. And remember God's promise to give you back in full, the tax-deductible donations you make to UMF: "...And whatever you spend of your wealth, will be paid back to you in full ..." (Al-Baqarah 2:272)

The last two months at UMF Breakfast Club have been inspiring! We've expanded to the men's shelter, hosted volunteer-run screenings for the needy, created beautiful works of art and brought together Muslims of all walks of life to celebrate birthdays and give back!
In September, we served hot breakfast to over 70 individuals and set-up computers for members of Rescue Outreach Mission to find resources to get back on their feet. In October, we served over 80 individuals and brought tears of joy to the family of a special 13-year old boy, who's birthday we celebrated with love!

 UMF adoption of Midway Elementary School has made promising strides. Through the year, with your support, we've helped to keep Midway's Pantry stocked. Barbara Keller, Midway's Family Liaison, says "Thanks to UMF, we were able to feed all the way to the summer, please keep it coming!"
UMF also provides incentives for reading with our 'Every Child Reading Ahead' ECRA program. Through ECRA, we plan to encourage reading and increase standarized test scores. To do this, we need YOUR help! Arrange for a pickup of school supplies, puzzles, crosswords, rubber bracelets as incentives to help motivate children reading ahead or, make a monetary donation online .

This September, UMF brought together Muslims from all backgrounds to discuss their financial future, over dinner at our Securing Your Financial Future Seminar featuring speakers from ShariaPortfolio (Guest on Al Jazeera TV) and AMANA.

UMF Guides comes to a end in Central Florida, with a beautiful day at New Symerna Beach. Celebrating graduation with Seniors for Husseini Islamic Center, UMF Guides demonstrated their empowerment of 'Animals in Islam' through short skits, songs and games and even built bird houses to gift the Audubon to help heal endangered birds. Incorporating their fun at SeaWorld and the farm into the presentations, UMF Guides graduated with distinction of being proactive Muslims with a better understanding of how they are empowered to make a difference every day.

 A few months ago, UMF's Board of Directors discussed the necessity of a UMF van to expand our reach. Alhamdullilah, thanks to the generous donation of a generous donor, UMF now has our very own UMF van! With the UMF van, we can connect with local donors and deliver donations to those in need.
