As usual, the HungerTeam came through again with great effort to help two gentlemen who were in dire need of transportation! 

 

As we were raffling this month's bicycle, we noticed that the winner of last month's quiz never showed up to collect.  With a great need, we asked additional trivia questions and raffled the bicycle to a young gentlemen. As we listened to his story, our hearts broke.   He was unhappy where he was staying and had to wait in the cold for over two hours for a bus to take him to work at McDonalds.  Struggling through difficult times, we were humbled by his sincerity and dedication.  As we shed our tears, we decided to give him a bike. 

 

An elderly gentlemen with leg pain, who walks miles just to get to the shelter to eat was also given a bike. 

 

These two gentlemen couldn't believe their luck!  They had the biggest smile of on their face and kept thanking God!

 

 

One of the things we love to do at UMF is help motivate students to get involved in community service. Those community service hours can be used towards applying for our annual $4,000 scholarship award. As with most scholarships, there are many students qualified to receive the award but few that apply. You just need to be a high school student or college student willing to spend several minutes completing our application online of May 31st.
