| December 2013 Muharram 1435
| |
This December marks a decade in UMF's History. It's hard to believe how much time has gone by when I reflect on all UMF has accomplished over the last 10 years, with the bounty and grace of Allah SWT. Yet, in quite another way, the passing of the years has been felt through the growing pains we have had to endure, to reach where we are today. It has been a struggle no doubt to prove our mission and carry out our vision in the community. But Alhamdulil-Lah every moment has been more than worth it. We have expanded UMF Hungerteam, the core of our operations to include the Birthday and Breakfast club for the needy children and their families and are working with local agencies and schools to help mentor and feed children in need. We have partnered with Kids Peace to bring about youth counseling on TeenCentral.Net/Religion and piloted the first of it's kind Guides Program to help youths Explore, Experience and Empower themselves through reflection on the Holy Quran, Community Service Experiences and Skill Building Adventures. And above all we are constantly reaching out to and working with all Charitable and Muslim organizations to Establish Charity, Empower Youth and Encourage Unity. Please, take a moment to say a prayer for us as we continue forward to serve for Allah's pleasure. We run on volunteer power and donations to help sustain our programs. And with your support, insha-Allah UMF will see many more glorious decades ahead. Sincerely, Masuma Virji Director & Co-Founder, United Muslim Foundation |
