EXPLORE EXPERIENCE EMPOWER
June marked the 6 month mark for UMF Guides. We celebrated with a Pizza and Movie night featuring movie productions by our very own Guides (and their helpful Lieutenants). The audience had a good laugh at the comedy and got teary eyed watching clips from past events. We were even graced at the event by our favorite Aerosim Pilots who cheered the Guides on. The program began with recitation of the Holy Qur'an and ended with an award ceremony and Dua'e Wahdah ( Dua for Unity)
Next up at Guides.... Summer Fencing inshaAllah and raising awareness on how to be financially resposible for projects (read more about Guides partnership with Macy's below)
Visit UMFGuides or E-mail umfguides@unitedmuslimfoundation.org to find out more about how you can join in the fun too, as a Guide (ages 5-16) or Lieutenant (17 and up)!
UMF GUIDES PARTNERS WITH MACY'S
FOR EIGHTH ANNUAL "SHOP FOR A CAUSE"
Macy's will partner with UMF Guides to invite customers to participate in Macy's eighth annual national "Shop For A Cause" charity shopping event on August 24, 2013. Customers can purchase shopping passes from UMF now. Macy's "Shop For A Cause" is a unique one-day-only shopping event created to support local charities' fundraising efforts, which has helped raised more than $46 million for charities across the country since 2006.
Macy's has provided UMF Guides with shopping passes to sell for $5 each. UMF will keep 100 percent of every shopping pass it sells. The more our Guides sell, the more money we will raise!
By purchasing a shopping pass from UMF, customers support our Youth Guides Program while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts, entertainment and special events at Macy's. Pass holders will receive special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day, but some exclusions apply.
"UMF is excited to have this opportunity to work with Macy's to help fundraise for our Guides who are getting ready to register for the Muslim Spelling Bee. We appreciate the support of the community in helping our Guides reach their goal of Exploration, Experience and Empowerment" said UMF Director Masuma Virji.
To purchase a shopping pass from UMF, contact any Guide Lieutenant to purchase tickets or make a $5 donation online and we'll email it to you, insha-Allah!

Islam 411
UMF was honored to be invited to speak at Seminole State College for a presentation on Islam in a World Religions classroom. We quizzed the students on Islam 411 as well as some cool facts, and the students were very open to learning more. UMF handed out informative brochures on Islam and made copies of the translation of the Holy Qur'an available. We would like to invite other learning institutions to contact us if you would like to host a presentation on Islam 411 or would like more information on Islam and Muslims.
