Until recently, if you could find a handmade Indian rug it was probably in a department store. It was incredibly crude and loosely hand-knotted in an Aubusson design. The yarn had very little twist and it was woven in metric sizes such as 5x8. The color was a basic ivory with a dark accent. It was inexpensive, poor quality and unattractive. 

Today, however, Indian production is very sophisticated and rivals its more famous competitors, namely Persia and Nepal. India is now the world's premier supplier of decorative area rugs.

From mainly traditional collections like Anatalya, we also feature Silken Impressions, and Woven Treasures which are transitional and contemporary designs that are woven in India in a Tibetan Knot, and combine up-to-the-minute colors with great patterns. Also, Soho is hand-woven of premium Wool with a lustrous Banana Silk accents. Avant Garde is a more contemporary collection featuring a densely hand-knotted construction of premium wool using a Nepalese knot for an authentic Tibetan look.
