Thank you for an amazing first two weeks of school! Below are just a few reminders as we establish routines at the beginning of the year.
First, excellent attendance and punctuality are essential to success and achievement at school. It is also vital that students learn to become independent and develop important time-management skills. Attendance and tardiness are tracked and become a part of your child's permanent record. More importantly, your child is missing valuable classroom instructional that will hamper their overall academic achievement. If there is a circumstance that we need to be aware of that is causing habitual tardiness or absenteeism, please let us know. We open our doors at 8:15 AM for all students. Our first bell and morning routines begin at 8:40 AM. Please aim to have your child in class by the 8:40 AM bell. Second, our car rider line is getting more efficient as everyone is learning the correct car pick-up routine. Please remember to pull all the way up at your color zone as closely to the curb as possible. We must ensure that the left lane is unobstructed and not blocked by cars not pulling in correctly or parents getting out of the driver's side door to assist their children. The safest way to load a child in the car is using our patrols and adults on site on the passenger side of the door. This is the perfect opportunity to teach your child how to buckle themselves in safely every time they are in a vehicle. Lastly, we do not release students after 2:30 PM (1:30 PM on Wednesday's) as we are amidst preparing for a safe dismissal. If you have a change of transportation, please be sure you write a note in your child's planner for the teacher. Last minute emergencies should be reported to the front office no later than 2:30 PM (1:30 PM on Wednesday's). Safety is a top priority and we must work together in order to ensure that your child has a consistent afternoon routine. Don't forget there is no school on Monday, September 7 in honor of Labor Day and picture day on Tuesday, September 8. Details on how to order photos is included in this newsletter.
Kindest regards,
Jennifer Sanders, Principal
