FAITH-LIFT
"The Gift of Diversity and the Challenge of Unity"
Our reading, Ephesians 4:1-7, says there is: "one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all." This doesn't say "everyone must believe the same thing we believe," nor does it say, "your job is to convince everyone to believe what you believe." But what this DOES say, is we are to treat everyone as if WE believe there is one human family under God's lordship. Is it possible that Christians over the centuries became so obsessed with getting others to believe what we believe, that we forgot to believe what Jesus taught? When we look at the human family, in all its diversity, what makes unity and one-ness a challenge? What makes it worth pursuing and seeking? What can you do to create greater unity in the human family today? (Think small, one-on-one encounters.) What can First Lutheran do?
