Greetings from the field! Now that the "91 Steer Clear" is behind us, I would like to express my appreciation to the community and our project partners for making the weekend full closure of the 91 an incredible success.
With the roadway closed, our crews demolished the west side of the Maple Street Bridge, built the supporting structure for the new westbound Maple Street flyover on-ramp bridge, and paved the new eastbound 91 alignment near I-15 all within 55 hours. The roadway reopened by 1:30 am on westbound 91 and by 3:30 am on eastbound 91, ahead of schedule. So much progress was made on the Maple Street flyover, that we didn't need to close the eastbound 91 at night the following week, as we had expected.
We had close to 200 crew members on site to complete these major work efforts. Crews also took advantage of the roadway closure to repair potholes, restripe lanes and complete other maintenance. I was extremely impressed by the leadership and hard work shown by the design-builder, Atkinson/Walsh.
Many thanks go to Corona area residents and other motorists, who heeded our public outreach messages to plan ahead, avoid the area and stay home. The CHP, Caltrans, Corona and neighboring city staff members, County of Riverside, emergency responders, Orange County Transportation Authority, Transportation Corridor Agencies and Metrolink all contributed to the success of this weekend.
During my weekend in Corona, I was pleased to see the community's support and their willingness to embrace local businesses and attractions. The City of Corona also hosted a "Staycation in Corona" social media contest with 55 things to do in Corona during the 55-hour closure. Photos can be viewed on our new Instagram page.
Other 91 Project updates include:
1. The Auto Center/Serfas Club Drive roadway lowering has begun. Crews are lowering the Auto Center/Serfas Club Drive roadway by five feet to increase the vertical clearance beneath the 91. Crews are completing the work in three phases. To reduce the impact to traffic flow during the week, a weekend full closure of the roadway and all ramps was held Feb. 26-29. Additional closures will occur as follows; please note that the eastbound Serfas Club on-ramp, which closed for 15 months in September, will remain closed during this work.

Rescheduled: The March 4-7 weekend closure of Serfas Club has been rescheduled due to forecasted rain to the following weekend, Friday, March 11 at 9 pm to Monday, March 14 at 4 am, weather permitting. The Serfas Club roadway will be closed between Frontage Road and the westbound 91 ramps. The eastbound off-ramp also will be closed. Both westbound ramps will remain open.

Friday, March 25 at 9 pm to Monday, April 4 at 4 am - Serfas Club will be closed beneath the 91 between the westbound and eastbound ramps. The westbound on-ramp, westbound off-ramp, and eastbound off-ramp will be open.

2. The Maple Street Bridge will be closed on Thursday, March 3 and Friday, March 4 from 9 pm to 5 am to allow crews to work on the new bridge. Please watch for ongoing Maple bridge construction during the coming months.
