CONSTRUCTION ALERT
91 Project Masthead

Special Alert: 91 Corona Squeeze Restriping to Take Place Nightly June 1-6, 2015; Lane Widths to be Reduced for approximately 10 Months

As part of the Riverside County Transportation Commission's 91 Project, the westbound and eastbound lanes on the 91 between the 71 and Main Street in Corona will be reduced in width so that work to widen the roadway can be done safely and efficiently behind K-rail. The narrower lanes will remain in place for approximately 10 months. The four inside lanes through this area will be restriped to 10.5 feet in width and the outside lane will be 12 feet (see image below). Restriping will occur as follows:

  • Westbound 91 - Monday, June 1 through Thursday, June 4 from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.; Friday, June 5 from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.; and Saturday, June 6 from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Eastbound 91 - Monday, June 1 through Thursday, June 4 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.; Friday, June 5 from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; and Saturday, June 6 from 11:59 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Once the restriping is completed, K-rail will be placed along the outside lane in one-mile segments. This will eliminate the shoulder within these areas. In areas where there is no K-rail, there will be a shoulder for emergency use. Freeway Service Patrol Service will be increased throughout the "91 Corona Squeeze."

Please allow extra travel time, travel during off-peak hours, pay attention to changing conditions, know detour routes, watch for crews and equipment, and use public transit, if feasible.
