 Safety is RCTC's Top Priority

The safety of construction crews, motorists and pedestrians is RCTC's top priority for the 91 Project. Please follow these safety tips near the 91 Project construction zone:

  • Slow down and watch for workers, heavy equipment, pedestrians and cyclists
  • Lanes and ramps may be closed, so allow extra time to get to work, school or appointments
  • Tell friends or customers about construction activity
  • Be extra careful when driving at night and in rainy weather
  • Avoid mobile phone use or other distractions when driving through the construction zone
  • Watch for lane and ramp closures, use alternate routes and follow detours
  • Obey the "Move Over" Law, which requires you to move to lanes away from construction work, when it's safe to do so

 RCTC Hosts Emergency Responders Briefing

The Riverside County Transportation Commission hosted a briefing on May 28 for 30 representatives of public safety and transit agencies to learn about construction plans, closures and management of potential emergency situations during 91 Project construction. Ongoing communication with these representatives will ensure that responders are aware of current and future construction activity and the protocol for managing emergency situations.

Metrolink- Full Speed Ahead

Metrolink already is a great alternative to driving the 91, and service is about to get even better with new weekend trains starting on the 91 Line. Metrolink offers two lines for Riverside County commuters:

  • 91 Line: Runs roughly parallel to the 91 between Riverside and Los Angeles, Monday through Friday, with new weekend service beginning July 5.
  • Inland Empire Orange County Line: Offers service seven days per week from Riverside to Oceanside, including the popular "Beach Train," with weekend stops at the San Clemente Pier and other south Orange County destinations.

Metrolink's Weekend Day Pass is only $10 and allows riders to hop aboard anytime, anywhere, systemwide on either Saturday or Sunday. For schedule and fare information, visit metrolinktrains.com.

  • July 18 and 25
