Construction Begins in Trilogy's Drop-In Center!

Greetings!

At the end of August, it was announced that Trilogy was a $10,000 prize winner in the Guaranteed Rate Ultimate Neighborhood Giveback Challenge. There were more than 300 entries to the contest and Trilogy was one of five finalists to win a $10,000 prize. This is quite an accomplishment and I want to thank everyone who supported Trilogy. It was because of your votes and shares on Facebook that we were one of the finalist. The prize money will be used to help fund the Beacon renovations!

After years of planning and preparation, construction is underway on the first floor of our main location at 1400 W. Greenleaf Ave. Over the course of the next few months, we will have the opportunity to witness the transformation of the Beacon. After construction is complete, the Beacon will have an expanded common area, a private group room, a ten station computer center for participants, and two staff offices for Beacon employees to have one-on-one meetings with clients. The goal of this project is to expand Trilogy's capacity to serve individuals in Rogers Park and the neighboring communities who self-identify as having a mental illness by offering them a safe space to work on their recovery.

It is the outpouring of support and the warmth of everyone that truly makes the Beacon a special place and soon we will have a space that reflects that welcoming spirit.

Sincerely,

Each year, the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) hosts a national meeting for representatives from each of its Primary and Behavioral Healthcare Integration (PBHCI) program grantees. This meeting gives participating organizations, including Trilogy, an opportunity to collaborate with one another and learn about the various ways PBHCI's across the country have positively impacted the more than 52,000 individuals who have received integrated mental health and primary care thanks to the PBHCI grants.

This year's grantee meeting took place August 11th-13th in Washington D.C. and was attended by Dr. Sara Gotheridge, Trilogy's Chief Clinical Officer; Dr. Laurie Carrier, Director of Behavioral Health at HHC and primary care physician in the Trilogy clinic; Mary Colleran, Trilogy's Chief Operations Officer; Dr. Alice Geis, Trilogy's Director of Integrated Healthcare; and Elisabeth Klaasen, Trilogy's Director of Williams/Colbert Implementation. Our own Dr. Gotheridge, Dr. Geis, Mary, and Elisabeth shared Trilogy's unique experiences providing integrated services to Williams Consent Decree class members during their presentation, Moving on With Trilogy: An Integrated Transition into the Community. Dr. Carrier was also presented on Primary Care Skills for Psychiatrists.

In September 2010, Trilogy partnered with Heartland Health Centers (HHC) and became one of 45 mental health organizations across the country to be awarded a competitive multimillion dollar, four year federal grant from SAMHSA. In September 2014, our time as a PBHCI grantee will come to a close and at the end of the conference, Trilogy was recognized as a "graduate" of the PBHCI program.

Trilogy Beacon Coordinator Presenting for National Council in Baltimore

On September 25, 2014, Trilogy's Beacon Coordinator, Regina Moffett, will be speaking in Baltimore as part of a National Council for Behavioral Healthcare Trauma Informed Care Learning Community for addictions programs. This is the learning community's kick-off event and Regina will be there to share her insight on working for a Trauma Informed Care organization. She will share her personal and professional experiences regarding the intersection of trauma and addictions, including what steps Trilogy took in implementing trauma informed care into our organization. She will also focus on how to promote recovery in a trauma-informed way.

This is the second time this year that Regina has been asked to speak at a National Council event. The first time was in May immediately following the National Council for Behavioral Health's Conference 2014.

As an individual with a lived experience of mental illness and a history of trauma in her past, trauma-informed care and the value of peers in behavioral health are two things that Regina is immensely passionate about. We are proud of Regina and the chance she has to share her experiences. We hope that by sharing the steps that Trilogy took to become trauma-informed, she will encourage other organizations and individuals to do the same.
