Trilogy Logo w tagline

Dear

On behalf of our clients, employees, and Board of Directors, I want to thank each individual, partner, foundation, and corporation that has supported Trilogy in our efforts to increase access to mental healthcare and primary care for individuals living with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.  As outlined in our  FY2013 Annual Report, your continued support helped ensure that Trilogy could offer the best quality of care for the people we serve.

In FY2014, we continue to focus on the importance of wellness in recovery.  We will honor the 50th anniversary of the first Surgeon General's Report on Smoking and Health with lectures, special guests, and incentives to help people quit smoking; we will host our second annual Passport to Wellness Fair this summer; and we are expanding our partnerships to ensure that each person who presents for services at Trilogy has access to the wide-array of resources and programs they need to ensure a successful recovery.

I hope when you review our FY2013 Annual Report you will be as proud to be a part of all that we have accomplished as I am, because we could not be as successful without your support.

Sincerely,

John Mayes Signature

John Mayes: Featured Speaker

At Supportive Housing Symposium

Trilogy President and CEO, John Mayes, was recently a featured speaker at the Illinois Supportive and Integrated Housing Symposium. John co-presented as an industry expert on how supportive housing is working in behavioral healthcare along with Mark Ishaug, Thresholds CEO, and Eileen Durkin, Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) President and CEO.

The three community behavioral healthcare leaders presented Telling Stories of Success and Recovery: Williams Consent Decree Implementation from the Provider Perspective to a roomful of outstanding partners in supportive and integrated housing. The presentation addressed the ways behavioral health centers restructured their services in order to work toward transitioning over 4,500 individuals living with serious mental illnesses out of nursing homes and into the community as a part of the Williams Consent Decree.

As a Williams Consent Decree provider, Trilogy has transitioned more than 120 people out of nursing homes and into apartments throughout Chicago. For these individuals, learning to live on their own has been an invaluable experience that has increased their confidence and their independence.

We'd like to thank the event sponsors--Corporation for Supportive Housing and Loyola University Chicago's Center for Urban Research and Learning--for inviting Trilogy to present on the important role supportive housing plays in recovery for many individuals.

Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment Program

Trilogy's Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment (IDDT) program is available to all of our clients who may be living with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.

According to Courtney Emery, Trilogy's IDDT Program Coordinator, "More than 50% of individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness also have a co-occurring substance use disorder. Early intervention reduces the personal and societal impacts and heightens the chances of a full recovery, yet only 7.4 percent of individuals receive treatment for both conditions, while 55.8 percent receive no treatment at all. IDDT treats co-occurring disorders simultaneously and meets individuals at their own stages of recovery through individual therapy and group services."

Eighteen Trilogy team members are certified to provide Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment by IAODAPCA (Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association).By integrating treatment for the people we serve, we are closing a treatment gap that is far too prevalent and working to ensure that everyone has access to the highest quality of care.

Additionally, President Obama recently signed the fiscal year 2014 budget into law and it included a $144 million increase in funding for SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services for important priorities such as substance use--especially prevention and treatment programs--and mental healthcare.
