Shabbat: The Junior Edition

 

We will be making tzedakah
boxes to collect coins to help those in need. We'll talk about the many ways we can make a difference by helping people.

 

This free children's program will run during the service.

Moving Mitzvah

 

Shir Libeynu member Barbara Center could use some help with her upcoming move -- before and after. Barbara needs assistance with packing and cleaning up her current apartment on Saturday, November 2 (come by after shul!) and on Sunday, November 3, as well as help unpacking at her new place on Sunday, November 10.

Jewstice League Klezmer Ensemble -- its members include Shir Libeynu-ites Jeremy Aranoff, Jesse Guttman and Elise Eisenkraft Klein -- is one of five bands playing tomorrow night at a benefit for Toronto Friends of Refugees. S. Bear Bergman at the International Festival of Authors

Our member S. Bear Bergman's recent performance of his one-person show,  Machatunim: A Suite of Stories About Making Queer Jewish Family, had the audience laughing and crying and, quite literally, shouting "Amen!" Shir Libeynu  was proud to be its presenter. Bear will be be reading from his most recent work, Blood, Wine, Marriage & Glitter, at the International Festival of Authors. Shir Libeynu Goes to the Theatre

The Musical of Musicals: The Musical

Sunday, December 22 @ 7 p.m.

 

The Musicals of Musicals: The Musical, will be at the Panasonic Theatre from December 18 to January 4. Join the already sizeable Shir Libeynu contingent at the 7 p.m. performance on Sunday, December 22.  After the show, we will all go out for dinner together.
 
Tickets to the performance can be purchased through this link (remember, it's Sunday, December 22 at 7 p.m., NOT at 2 p.m.). Try the code MORESHOWS (all caps) for a substantial discount. stating the reason for your donation so we can acknowledge it in the Shabbat handout and on our website. Donations in any amount are welcome and income tax receipts will be issued.



The congregation holds Shabbat services one  Saturday morning of each month, in the Michael Bernstein Chapel, on the 3rd floor of the Miles Nadal JCC, followed by a Kiddush. A free Shabbat program is offered for children during services. We also offer adult education workshops and programs, the possibility to participate in our choir and chanting events, as well as holiday celebrations and Oneg Shabbat dinners throughout the year.

 

Congregation Shir Libeynu is unaffiliated, liberal, inclusive and egalitarian. Our participatory services combine tradition and innovation. Shir Libeynu is Hebrew for "song of our hearts," and our services include prayers and music both ancient and modern. Our diverse community is a welcoming one
