OTHER SHIR LIBEYNU ITEMS

Our First Pride Oneg Shabbat

On Friday, June 7th, Congregation Shir Libeynu held its first Pride Oneg Shabbat, co-presented with Kulanu Toronto. With prayers, readings and songs both traditional and contemporary, our liturgical leader, Aviva Goldberg, and our chazzan, Daniela Gesundheit, conducted a service that celebrated the arrival of Shabbat and of Pride Month.

The joyousness of the evening was tempered by the realization that in many countries, there can be no such celebration and that people who openly identify as LGBT do so at great risk. The members of our Pride Committee took turns introducing speakers from organizations that are active in assisting LGBT refugees in escaping from hostile

  HELP WANTED

Kiddush Helper for Shabbat Morning Services

Saturday, July 5 and/or Saturday, August 3

We need an energetic person to come in a little early to help our board volunteer and our staff person prepare for the Kiddush and clean up afterwards.  Help would be required from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. AND 1:00 to 2:00  p.m. This is a great way to get involved and to give back. We also give credit to high school students for their community hours requirement.

Please email if you would like to volunteer for one or both of our summer Kiddushes.
