IN MEMORIAM
Arthur Pape
It is with profound sadness that we tell you that Arthur Pape, a dear friend of many, a mensch and a member of Shir Libeynu's community, died on December 6, in Toronto. We send our condolences to Arthur's wife, Judy Hashmall, and his family.
Arthur was a lawyer who spent most of his career fighting for Aboriginal and workers' rights across Canada. From a young age he advocated for social justice and peace. As his good friend Liora Salter wrote: "His contribution to the well-being of this country is immeasurable."
A memorial service led by Aviva Goldberg took place on Monday, December 10, 2012.

Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 1, 2012, in his ninety-ninth year, in Toronto.
Cherished father and father-in-law of our members Bonnie and Brian Smith and proud grandfather of our members Lorne Smith and Gena Smith and her husband, Joe Fantauzzi.
Funeral service took place in Montreal on Tuesday, December 4th.

The congregation holds Shabbat services on the first Saturday morning of each month, in the Michael Bernstein Chapel, on the 3rd floor of the Miles Nadal JCC, followed by a Kiddush. Free childcare is available during the services. We also offer adult education workshops and programs, the possibility to participate in our choir and chanting events, as well as holiday celebrations and Oneg Shabbat dinners throughout the year.
Congregation Shir Libeynu is unaffiliated, liberal, inclusive and egalitarian. Our participatory services combine tradition and innovation. Shir Libeynu is Hebrew for "song of our hearts," and our services include prayers and music both ancient and modern. Our diverse community is a welcoming one.
