Summer schedule
Book club members will be busy this summer with a variety of activities ranging from art appreciation, ocean life, and telling one's story through scrapbooking.
On June 6, the group met at Monarch Creative Arts and Community Center where members created their own masterpiece in the style of Claude Monet along with art instructor Terry Hardison. The community is invited to stop by The Arc office, 673 S. Bennett St., Southern Pines, and see each of the Book Club members' interpretation of a selection from Monet's "Water Lilies" collection. The paintings will be on display throughout the summer!
In July, the study of ocean life will be theme and the club will be instructed by the director of the Dorothy Gilmore Therapeutic Recreation Center in Fayetteville. Each person may also go home with a new adopted friend!
August will provide the opportunity for each member to tell their personal story through the art of scrapbooking. With instructor Kari Gulovich, the club will learn about a new hobby while reading the book "Scrapbooking For Fun!"
