Greetings!,
As I write this, I am hopeful we have survived and said good-bye to the brutal cold here in the Treasure Valley. Just like Phil, the groundhog, I am looking forward to an early and beautiful spring.
This update features some of the great students in the School of Nursing. We have featured some volunteer activities and two students who were awarded honors. We are very proud of the outstanding students we have in the School of Nursing.
We have also featured a couple of the outstanding faculty in the School of Nursing. We are focused on building the expertise of the faculty so we can have national experts right here in the Treasure Valley. I am sure you will agree the faculty at Boise State are simply the best.
We are investing in our faculty and students. You can read about the Friends of Nursing gala event that raised money to ensure our faculty have resources to be national experts and mentor our students. In our next update, you will read about the numerous research presentations by our faculty and our students at the Western Institute of Nursing Research in Anaheim, Calif.
As you know, we received permission from the State Board of Education for our Doctor of Nursing Practice and our Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Program. We are so pleased. We will also go before the State Board of Nursing seeking permission for the Nurse Practitioner program later in spring. If you have interest in either program, please contact Dawn Weiler at 208-426-1239 for the Nurse Practitioner program and Pam Strohfus at 208-426-3577 for the DNP.
As always, we appreciate your support of our programs. Have a great Spring!
Sincerely, Pamela J. Springer, PhD, RN, CNE Associate Dean, College of Health Sciences
Director, School of Nursing Boise State University
