Greetings!,
Happy Holidays! I hope this newsletter finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying family and friends as we enter the holiday season.
The School of Nursing is focused on ensuring high quality undergraduate education through innovative educational experiences. We work closely with our community partners to make sure our graduates are well prepared to provide care.
The recent Institute of Medicine report calls for us to double the number of nurses with doctorates by 2020 and to ensure 10% of our graduates go on for graduate education within five years. Boise State School of Nursing seeks to beat those numbers!
Our undergraduate program is very competitive and we admit only the best students. These graduates will be the practitioners and leaders in the next decade. Thus, we are growing our graduate nursing programs. We have received permission to plan a masters level adult gerontology nurse practitioner program in both primary and acute care. We are seeking permission to offer this program from the State Board of Education. In addition, we are seeking permission from the State Board of Education to offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Stay tuned for more information on these programs as we progress. We are beginning to reach out more to our alumni. We want to know what you are doing and we want to make sure you are invited to events we are having in the School. So, look for invitations to meet. Thank you all for your support. I hope you all have great holidays and a happy new year. Please read the attached newsletter for more information on School activities. Sincerely, Pamela J.
