The most recent version of the draft City of Medicine Hat Land Use Bylaw is now available on the city website. Municipal staff greatly appreciate previous input, and the time citizens have taken to provide comments on this very important project. In addition to comments that were submitted at the stakeholder meetings at the beginning of February, further comments can be submitted by emailing them to lub@medicinehat.ca. All input will be considered by the Land Use Bylaw team as they work on this project. Please review the current draft Land Use Bylaw HERE    

 

Interested residents are invited to attend and share their thoughts at one of two open houses that will be held February 25 and February 26 at Higdon Hall, Stampede Grounds From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Both open houses will be drop in format with no formal presentations.

2013 Spring Tradeshow
The POST at 410 South Railway St is getting a facelift!  Thanks to the support of the Community Foundation, the interior is being re-painted, and all interior signage is being redesigned and replaced.  The store will be closed on Monday, February 25. The store will reopen on February 26, but the official unveiling and grand re-opening will be held on Friday March 1.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11:00 am, followed by coffee/snacks and a chance to browse.  There will be specials and promotions planned for the day, as well.

The Board of Trustees of Medicine Hat School District No. 76 has established a program to recognize the contribution of members of the general community for their contribution to the District and/or to the students of the District. The Board is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Friends of Education Award.  Criteria for nominations and a nomination form are available on their website www.sd76.ab.ca.  Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2013.

The Urban Development Institute, Medicine Hat Chapter, is composed of land developers and consultants to the land development industry in the Medicine Hat area.  Our membership pays close attention to the legislation and policies affecting land development and is engaged in educational and advocacy initiatives at both the municipal and provincial level.  UDI members play a crucial role in accommodating the economic growth and prosperity of our City and at the UDI Alberta level, of the province of Alberta.  The land development industry employs directly and indirectly almost 200,000 people annually in Alberta.

Anthony Merkel, owner/operator of Elevation Landscaping and Irrigation, was previously the recipient of the Medicine Hat College/Johnson Morrison Hunter & Co Entrepreneurship Award of $10,000 last May and has now been named one of Enactus' Student Entrepreneur Provincial Winners as well! Anthony has now been invited to present at the Enactus regionals in Calgary and has the chance to present in Toronto for another $10,000 grand prize. Congratulations Anthony!
