From Our Friends at Portland Taiko

Are you ready to make this summer the most exciting one yet?  School is out and it is the perfect time to use all that summer energy playing taiko

This camp adventure will have kids learning the basics of taiko (Japanese drum) techniques and skills along with many other fun, cultural activities such as origami (Japanese paper folding) hachimaki making (Japanese headband), and Japanese folk dance.

This year, Portland Taiko will offer two summer camps, one for kids ages 6-9 during the week of August 5-9, and one for older youth ages 9-15 from August 12-17. The older campers will end the session with a picnic and performance at the JACL Nikkei Picnic on Sunday, August 19th at Oaks Park. Camp days will go from 10:00am-3:00pm and light snacks will be provided.

You can find more info and register online at portlandtaiko.org/youth. We can't wait to drum with you!
