Parish:  The Thought
 "Our Resurrection"
 The Rev. Bernie Schroeder

We have just celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After a long Lent, a somber Holy Week and the dreadful Stripping of the Altar and Good Friday, we can finally say, "Alleluia, Christ is Risen!"

It is important to understand that when Jesus died on the Cross and was then Resurrected, he was not only resurrecting himself, he was resurrecting all of us. When he died, he died for us; when he rose, he rose for us. We, too, having been faithful to our Lord, will one day rise up to Heaven to be with Christ and the Heavenly Hosts. I'm not making this up - just remember what Jesus said to the thief hanging with him who sought forgiveness: "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Our resurrection will be no less grand than that of the thief, or even that of Jesus.

On Saturday, April 2nd , at 11:00AM St. Patrick's will celebrate another resurrection - that of our dear friend Bill Houston. Bill has died and sits with our Savior. How do I know this? I watched him. I sat with Bill as he lay dying. I gave him the Ministration at the Time of Death twice, once by myself and once with his daughter, Rachel, with us. As Bill took his last breath, I offered a final blessing and saw the unmistakable Peace which Passes all Understanding overtake Bill. No more suffering. No more gasping for every breath. No more worry. It was a powerful moment for me and Rachel

So be steady in faith. Each of us will share Bill's (and Jesus') experience of the resurrection. It is why we have faith. It is why we prayer. It is why we worship together.
