Stuff The Truck
The second annual Stuff the Truck event, sponsored by the Falls Church Community Service Council (FCS), is coming! If you've been to church you've seen the giant bin in the narthex. That's our collection point for donations for this event. Between now and Sunday, August 23rd, please bring in non-perishable food and household goods and place in the bin.
The FCS Food Pantry is especially in need of
* canned fruit * jelly * canned beef stew * cooking oil *
* diapers & pull-ups of all sizes * wipes *
* laundry detergent *
All non-perishable food donations are welcome, as well as monetary support for the perishable items that must be purchased fresh.
Checks should be made out to "FCS" with "Food Pantry" in the memo line.
Volunteers from the FCS emergency food program deliver food to families and individuals in need in the greater Falls Church area throughout the year. St. Patrick's has been a long-standing member of FCS, and collects donations year-round. The Stuff the Truck event is a larger drive to replenish the shelves so that our neighbors in need might have enough. Each week, enough perishable and non-perishable items (including paper goods) are delivered in order to feed a receiving household for a week. In the month of June, for instance, over 100 individuals received food for a week. Our contribution will help this vital service continue.
If you are unable to come to church but would still like to help, please consider a monetary donation. Your check should be made out to FCS, with "Food Pantry" in the memo line, and can be sent directly to FCS at:
FCS Office Knox Presbyterian Church 7416 Arlington Blvd. Falls Church, VA 22042
Feel free to include a note that you are a member or friend of St. Patrick's. Checks also can be placed in the collection plate on Sunday morning, made out as above.
For more information and to volunteer to help with the collection on August 23rd, contact Catherine (catherine_dubas@cox.net or 571-242-2591). Thank you!
Pastoral Search Prayer
Our Heavenly Father:
Your love for us is unfailing. You have blessed this church -- a caring community where all are welcome and each is valued. Renew our faith during this time of transition.
Be with our pastoral search committee. Give them unity of purpose, and help them listen carefully to your voice. Let us be mindful that you are calling the right person to shepherd your flock at St. Patrick's.
All this we ask in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen
Please feel to reach the Search Committee via email (stpatsearch2014@gmail.com) or in-person.

Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
