February 6, 2015

Dear Knights,

Sheryl Beamer is our Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations to biology teacher Sheryl Beamer who has been recognized as our 2014-2015 Foothill Teacher of the year.  Mrs. Beamer is a wonderful teacher who is very well respected by her colleagues and students alike.  She is one of the most caring individuals that I have ever seen in the classroom.  She is the epitome of student centered and a student favorite.  Congratulations to Mrs. Beamer!

NCAA Letter of Intent Signing

Foothill High School had 22 students sign letters of intent to play NCAA athletics next year at lunch on Wednesday.  We had a great ceremony and we received some really nice press in the OC Register.  The day after the letter of intent signing ceremony, we had one additional athlete sign.  Congratulations to girls water polo player Emily Konishi as she heads to Bucknell University next year.  We are proud of all of our athletes and we are all excited to see the great things that they will do in their futures.

Girls Soccer

FHS Girls Varsity Soccer Senior Night February 9th, 7pm at Northrup Stadium

Come out and cheer on the FHS Girls Varsity Soccer team as they continue on their quest for a second consecutive league title and a berth into the CIF Playoffs.  Foothill currently owns a record of 14-4-2 as is ranked #5 in Orange County.

The last home game of the season is Monday, February 9th at Northrup Stadium. This is Senior Night and we are looking for a record crowd to come cheer on the team as they take on league foe Villa Park. If Foothill wins, it will put the team in the drivers seat for the league championship. Please come out and support our team and our Seniors. Kickoff is at 7pm.

Highlights from the past week include and impressive 5-3 win over El Dorado last Thursday.  On Tuesday, Foothill defeated Brea Olinda 3-1 with two goals and an assist by Abby Gruebel, and a goal by Abby Moso.

Boys Soccer

Please come out today at 3:00 to see our first place boys soccer team play at Barry Turner Field.  The boys are having a tremendous season this year and are in great shape heading into CIF Playoffs following next week's league play.

Basketball

Come out to Foothill this evening to root on our girls and boys basketball teams as we take on Canyon High School.  The girls start at 5:30PM in the gym and the boys start at 7:00PM.  These are huge games for both teams and support from the fellow students really helps.  See you this evening!

Visitors to Foothill

Starting next week, Maribel will begin checking in visitors with the Raptor system.

Any visitors ONLY going to a main building location (i.e. counseling, attendance, admin) will get a yellow badge. This will give us a more visual alert that those visitors are only cleared for the main building and will decrease Maribel's Raptor demand.
