Dear Knights,
Please see the following announcements for this week. I hope that you all had a great week at Foothill. I know that there has been a lot happening around school this week and I want to say thank you to all of the students and parents for the support. We are moving forward at Foothill in a new and positive direction. As I told the students on Monday, this will be a long, sustained process. There are no easy fixes, but we will make a concerted effort to address these issues. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my administrative staff if you have suggestions or issues that should be brought to my attention.
Winter Formal Assembly
Thank you to Mr. Waibel and the Foothill ASB kids for putting on a great Winter Formal assembly last week. The kids worked really hard to make it fun for everyone and it was tremendous to have our first assembly in our newly remodeled gym! There's still time to buy tickets for the dance that will be held Saturday evening in the Foothill Event Center.
Athletics
We have a big sports day today with 3 teams playing at home:
Boys Soccer 3pm vs Yorba Linda at Barry Turner Field
Girls Basketball 5:30 vs El Modena in the Main Gym
Boys Basketball 7:00 vs El Modena in the Main Gym
Congratulations to Girls soccer on their 4-1 win vs El Modena yesterday!
Administration is asking the students to do these things and hoping the families will model this for the kids:
1. Cheer FOR our team, not so much against our opponent
2. Refrain from criticizing the referees
3. No singling out one player on the opposing team
Wrestling Fundraiser
The Chipotle fundraiser is this Monday, January 19th at the Tustin Ave/17th Street Chipotle. Chipotle will give our team 50% of ANYTHING SPENT Monday between 5-8pm. Please take the attached flyer.
Finals
Finals are quickly approaching. They will be held January 27, 28 and 29. School will be dismissed at 12:20 on these days and there is no school for students on January 30. Students should start studying now. It is important to do well.
PTO Meeting
There will be a Foothill PTO meeting on Tuesday, January 20th at 10:30 in the Little Theater. TUSD Superintendent, Dr. Greg Franklin, will be presenting on the new state tests that junior students will take in late May. If you have questions about these tests, this is a great opportunity to get information and ask questions. I hope to see you there.
Eagle Scout Project
Help Foothill Senior Tim Wright raise money for his Eagle Scout project:
Restaurant fundraiser night at Ruby's Diner:

Ruby's is located at 13102 Newport Avenue, Tustin, CA 92780.
In order for your purchase to benefit my fundraising you will need to take the attached flyer with you to the restaurant. Eat in and to go orders both can benefit my cause.
Donations for a garage sale at my home on Saturday, January 31st. If you are willing to donate items for the sale, please drop them off at my home, 17581 Brent Lane, Tustin, CA 92780 or contact me, and I will come pick up your donations.
In addition to these two events, monetary donations for my project are greatly appreciated and will go a long way to help in the completion of this project. All donations are tax deductible and checks may be written out to Boy Scout Troop 33 and mailed to my address.
Construction
The lower parking lot near the track is done! Parking spots are open and traffic can now flow through the lot. Additionally, the construction crews are hard at work on the air conditioning system on the 100 building. They made massive progress over the break. Although there will be off and on noise for the next 2 months in that building, the project should be finished around Spring Break. This is a major improvement to the well being of our students. Thank you for understanding as we get through the construction.
Baseball Fundraiser
Parent Project
Foothill High School and the Orange County Sheriff's department are joining forces to offer a tremendous program aimed at helping our students. This program, called, The Parent Project, will empower parents and transform teenagers and aims to improve communication, prevent substance abuse and improve academic achievement. This is good program for all parents, not just for kids that are struggling.
