Dear Foothill Knights,

This week, we completed the distribution of the 2,500 plus laptops to all students.  This is a very exciting time for Foothill High School and TUSD.  The use of laptop computers in the classroom holds the potential to transform teaching and learning.  Already this week, I saw students in Mr. Hershberger's English class collaborating to research and create presentations that feature current day allusions to classical myths.  Many classes I saw had increased interactions between students as a result of the use of computers.  We are definitely seeing some classes starting to really use laptop computers as an educational tool and fulfill the promise that they hold.  

A few housekeeping items, we have more sleeves on order.  They will be distributed as soon as we get them.  Secondly, the technology department has found a fix for getting on the Internet at home.  More information on that fix will be coming out soon.

Thank you to Josh Porter, Lori Fiduk, Jess Flores and David Ngyuen for all of their help distributing the laptops.  The whole process was incredibly smooth.  I'd also like to thank the TUSD technology department for all of their support throughout the year.

Dino Dash

Dino Dash, on of the major fundraisers for the Tustin Public Schools Foundation will be held on November 2.  Contributions for Dino Dash directly benefit teachers that you choose!  Please go to WWW.TPSF.NET for more information and registration.

9th Grade Parent Night

Foothill High School's 9th grade Parent Night will be held on Tuesday, September 30th at 7 pm in the Event Center. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday Night!

Foothill APP

Foothill Junior, Sean O'Bannon has designed and developed a Foothill App for iOS 8 users.  The app is currently available on the Apple App Store.  Sean did a great job putting this app together; it looks really professional.  Please check it out!

CSF Membership Drive

The 2014 Fall California Scholarship Federation membership drive will begin Monday, September 29 and end Friday, October 3. Applications will be accepted during lunch on the quad stage. Applications may be picked up during Club Rush on Wednesday, September 24 or anytime after outside the ASB room. Eligibility is based upon last semester's grades. For questions regarding eligibility, students may see Mrs. Rangel in room 212.

Applications received after Friday, October 3 cannot be accepted for membership this semester.

Mini College Fair

On Tuesday, October 7th, Foothill will host a Mini College Fair from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. For a list of visiting schools check out the Counseling Site at foothllhigh.org.  Here is a list of college visits the week of October 29th to Foothill's Career and Counseling Center.  

SAT Boot Camp

SAT Boot camp this weekend.  To enroll, call Catalyst Prep at 1-800-235-0056.  Walk-ins will be accommodated, space permitting, on Saturday, Sept. 27th, at 8:50 am. (Foothill High School, Science Building, Room 507). Cost is $175.

Join the Foothill PTO

I encourage all Foothill families to join the PTO and help support our students, staff and families.   Foothill parents have a long-standing record of providing valuable programs and volunteering efforts to make our Foothill community a success.  Student recognition programs such as Academic Awards of Excellence, Honor Roll Recognition and Order of the Knight celebrate our students' success and stellar efforts.  Programs such as College Night, Report Card Nights, tutoring programs, SAT/ACT prep courses, Academic Bulletins, and Roundtable newsletter help our students succeed in their goals and keep our families informed and engaged.  I encourage families to browse the PTO section of the FHS website, calendar the PTO meetings and Principal Roundtable sessions, identify areas to volunteer your time, and download and return the membership form, by Clicking here.  The fall membership drive is the PTO's principal means of funding these programs. The deadline for receiving the FHS Directory, free with membership, is quickly approaching, so join today. 

Wrestling Yard Sale

Please come out to check out the wrestling yard sale tomorrow from 6:00AM to 12:00PM in the Foothill Faculty Parking Lot.  All proceeds go to help send out wrestlers to various tournaments over the course of the season.
