PoolM8 is hot
OK, so we are not really up with the lingo but we've been told, when an App is popular, it's going 'viral'! And PoolM8 is certainly popular.
As experts in pool and spa water analysis, the company has always been keen to educate on the importance of balanced water, otherwise known as the Langelier Index.
When water is in balance, it is said to be neither corrosive nor scale-forming. In other words, it will neither dissolve an existing layer of scale nor will it deposit a layer of calcium scale. Unbalanced water can aggressively eat away at the pool's infrastructure.
The Langelier Saturation Index (sometimes also known as the Langelier Stability Index) was developed in the 1930's to determine a formula resulting in a single calculated number which is used to notify how much calcium is in the water. The golden result of just above "0" means the water is 'in balance'.
The Index is very reliable, using various parameters that can have an effect on the water balance and each is given a factor to give an Index value. Those parameters are: pH; Total Alkalinity; Calcium Hardness; Total Dissolved Solids; Temperature. Each of these parameters has an effect on each other proven by a formula. The formula, however, can be complex to calculate - often leading to errors in determining the exact value.
The Lovibond® team has now solved this problem with an App - completely free to download from the AppStore.

Volume 1, 2013

Dear ,
Welcome to the latest edition of The Splash - the dedicated e-newsletter from Lovibond Tintometer for the Pool and Spa industry. This first quarter has been incredibly busy - what with the UK Pool & Spa Expo and SPATEX!, the Lovibond® team was on-the-road quite extensively. If you managed to visit us at one of these events, much of the information in this e-letter will be familiar to you. But there is no harm in refreshing a memory or two For those of you who weren't able to battle the weather to get to Birmingham or Brighton, there is plenty to catch up on. The Editor

Lovibond® Digital Accuracy for the Domestic User
Domestic pool users can now benefit from the entrusted Lovibond® technology used in public pools at a cost suited, of course, to the home owner. The new Scuba II is a small, compact, easy-to-use digital water tester for the 5 most important tests: Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine, pH, Alkalinity and Cyanuric Acid. This buoyant, watertight instrument is ideal for quick home testing (results displayed in a large viewing area within 1 minute). Supplied with sufficient tablets for a normal season's testing, it is the ideal solution for domestic users looking for accurate, digital results. Every pool owner should check the most important parameters in the pool at regular intervals. This is the only way to ensure that water quality is maintained at the right level and to arrange dosing in an optimum manner. The Scuba II enables the operator to check the pool water quickly and accurately. The integrated sample chamber is filled by immersing it in the water. A table reagent is added and generates a characteristic colour which can be measured using the photometric principle. The result is then displayed on the screen. Water analysis has now become a pleasure rather than a chore and more time is left for enjoying the pleasure of the pool.
Stop Press: The Scuba II has just won first place at the Golden Wave 2013 award ceremony - more details coming soon!

It's a Wrap - Show Time Wise
Both the UK Pool & Spa Expo and SPATEX proved excellent events for the trade and leisure industry, encouraging visitors from around the UK to attend. The tradeshows provided excellent forums for interactive networking.

It was great to meet up again with industry peers and customers and a good opportunity to introduce them and others to the new Lovibond® products. Thanks to all who came by and said 'hello'.
And The Winners Were .....
If you did manage to come by one of the Lovibond® stands, you might have had the opportunity to join in our Guess The Tablet Count Competition. But there can only be one winner - or two in this case.
The fact is, there were exactly 2359 tablets in the jar. Amazingly, here are the guesses (experienced calculations) of the winners:
Pool And Spa Expo
Richard Catchpole of Leisure Pools Ltd. He guessed 2375 (just 16 tablets out!)
SPATEX
Elizabeth Dungey of Wood Spring Pools. She guessed 2370 (just 11 tablets out!)
