of Louisiana. The Southern University System is poised in so many ways to play a major role in the revitalization of the educational system in Louisiana and in this country. I am honored to be able to discuss the future of higher education and assist our new governor as he shapes new policies and develops new strategies for making education in Louisiana the best in the nation.
We did not win the football game, but the Bayou Classic was one of the best ever. For me, the Pregame Show was one I will never forget. Many of you may have seen us on the football field. SU Board Members Ann Smith and Raymond Fondel led the Federation's National Officers and Chapter Presidents onto the field to showcase the incredibly successful, and first ever, National Academic Signing Day held earlier this year that featured 20 alumni

chapters and SU campuses from around the country. I cannot thank our dedicated alumni leaders and volunteersenough for their hard work. I sincerely applaud these board members for their vision and leadership in developing this historic recruitment initiative.
I tip my hat to SU System Foundation CEO, Al Harrell, the entire Bayou Classic Committee, and the Bayou Classic management company, NOCCI, for making this year's Bayou Classic successful. Similarly, our Federation staff did an amazing job organizing the many Federation-sponsored events. When you see Jourden Martin, Bridgette Richard, Erin Fulbright, and Glinda Rutledge, please thank them for their extraordinary service in making the weekend extra special.

Membership Corner
I would like to thank all of the members who contributed to the Student Assistance Program this past weekend. We collected $475.00. As you know, part of our mission is to help students attending Southern University. I challenge you as alumni members and all alumni chapters to match the amount given. Remember, the student we help today will become alumni members tomorrow.
The "Gift of Membership" Campaign has started. Please consider giving an annual membership to someone this Christmas. The cost is only $50.00 and it comes with a personal message from you. Go online or contact the Alumni Office at 225.771.4200.
