Dear Southernites:
After eight years of teaching Pretrial Litigation Practice at LSU Law School and 12 years of teaching Louisiana Civil Procedure I & II at SULC, this week I began a new era in my teaching career. I am now teaching Evidence. For nearly a decade Professor Russell Jones and I have had a friendly feud over which course is the most important course in law school, Procedure or Evidence. Vice Chancellor Jones is one our most renowned Evidence Professors in Louisiana. I've argued for years that a lawyer will never get to put on evidence in a courtroom if she cannot successfully navigate the procedural obstacles of our judicial system on the way to trial. Well, I had to tell my students this semester that while Procedure is still the most important course (Sorry Prof. Jones), Evidence is a lot more fun! I'm having a great time so far. I am happy to report that in addition to our SUBR campus doing so well, our Law School is also thriving.
