Massachusetts Department of Revenue Automatically Extends Tax Filing Deadline
|
Citing technical issues in their electronic filing system that may have affected the ability of some taxpayers to file on time, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue has announced an automatic 3-day extension of the deadline for filing individual income taxes.
The new deadline is midnight on Friday, April 18, 2014. The 3-day deadline reprieve also applies to taxpayers who are filing for a personal income tax extension.
The extension is only for taxpayers filing a Form 1 Resident Income Tax Return or Form 1 NR/PY Nonresident/Part-Year Resident Tax Return.
The automatic extension does not apply to 2014 personal income tax estimated tax payments, to personal income tax withholding returns, or to federal returns.
For additional information about the automatic filing extension or other tax topics, please contact the Gray, Gray & Gray Tax Department at (781) 407-0300.
