Just ask Frank...

Frank has enjoyed a good life. At 91 years young and still mentally sharp, he is grateful for every new day he gets to spend with his wife Evelyn and two dogs. They still live in the home where they raised their small family. He loves to share his stories of days gone by growing up in Lorain and working at the steel mill. One of our favorite stories is how he was part of our Mildred Bond kindergarten program when he was 6 years old. Like today, he was fortunate to get a strong educational beginning by being a part of one of the first kindergarten programs in the area.

But now 85 years later, Frank and Evelyn's daughter reaches out for assistance from another one of Neighborhood Alliance's programs - the Senior Nutrition Home Delivered Meal program. You see Frank is dealing with the complications of fighting cancer. He and Evelyn no longer drive; have limited mobility and their daughter struggles with the challenges of working and raising her own family. Together they know that a home delivered meal and a safety check might be the single difference between remaining in their own home or the costly expense of a nursing facility.

Two-Thirds of the seniors were female.  Ninety-three percent of clients surveyed over the past 12 months indicate that their overall health has improved while they received the home delivered meals.
