Later this month millions will gather at tables to offer thanks during this beautiful American holiday. Most will express gratitude to God for material blessings, and hopefully, more importantly, our freedom.

This week we commemorated Veterans Day, proudly and gratefully acknowledging the sacrifices and hardships faithfully accepted by the millions of men and women who have defended our nation in times of peace and in times of war. These brave people safeguard the legacy of our founding fathers, a legacy of liberty and justice. Because of their sacrifices, we are free to gather in thanksgiving.

Lessons from LeAnn

As I scurry through airports as I travel, I often see men and women in uniform. I never know if they are heading for deployment or into the arms of their loved ones. But I make it a point to look them in the eye and say, "Thank you for serving." I don't know what brings me near tears the most...their gratitude or their apparent surprise at being thanked. As many of you know, in each of my speaking presentations I recognize and honor the veterans who have served our beloved nation.

I invite you to make this a practice in your life. Thank those who defend our freedom. Make a list of all the veterans you know and those who serve today. Then, check them off as you send a note or email of thanks. Freedom is a priceless gift. We cannot thank enough, those who secure it.

More than anything else we possess, freedom should be at the top of every American's list of things for which they are thankful, not just at Thanksgiving, but every day.

A Healthy Quote:

"Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance, it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again."
