Long-time WBAI producer John McDonagh invites you to his performance of CABTIVIST.

WBAI supporters should not miss the chance to catch this otherwise sold-out show, which John is donating the proceeds from to benefit WBAI!   
 
Written and performed by McDonagh, you will roar with laughter at his tales of activism from behind the wheel of a New York City yellow cab.

Join co-hosts, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, the West Harlem Art Fund and WBAI for an intimate evening of
FUSION JAZZ AT THE PIANO LOUNGE.  
 
This is a benefit for WBAI that has been organized by State of the Arts producer Savona Bailey-McClain.

Daniel Schnyder, the composer of the jazz opera Yardbird, will team up with his partner, legendary bass trombone virtuoso, David Taylor to play music from their new release "Art of the Duo".

A cocktail reception will follow.

Imhotep Gary Byrd + Mayor David Dinkins
Host Highlights

On December 18, 2015 the
2015 Black Star News Annual Awards honored Mayor David Dinkins, Rep. Charles Rangel, Rep. Yvette Clarke, Inez Barron, Sabrina Lamb, Dr. Rudy Crew, Stephen Byrd, Alia Jones, Central Park Five, Imhotep Gary Byrd and Others.

Honoree Imhotep Gary Byrd, WBAI host of Global Black Experience,  can be heard on Fridays from 6-8pm. 

Gary is a legendary radio talk show host and executive producer, radio DJ, poet, songwriter, music recording artist and producer, rapper, writer and community activist. He began his career as a radio DJ in Buffalo at age 15. For over 30 years, he's been a talk show host at WBAI, WBLS and WLIB radio in New York City. 
 

Congratulations to WBAI host Gary Null for his film Poverty Inc. The film has garnered numerous awards across the country. They include:
  • Miami Independent Film Festival
  • Global Film Awards
  • Accolade Global Film Competition
  • 2015 Top Indie Film Awards 
Daulton Anderson

In celebration of  Black History Month the Wayside Baptist Church is honoring
Daulton Anderson, WBAI host of High Praise, heard Sundays at 6am.

He is being recognized for his 21st year in radio, his  entrepreneurial work in presenting the history and business of gospel music, for  being the 1st New York gospel radio announcer to receive the 2015 Stellar Reach Award Gospel Announcer of the year, and for receiving a proclamation in April '15 from the office of Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President.


Richard D. Wolff

The host of Economic Update, Richard Wolff, presents a live Monthly Economic Update at the Judson Memorial Church. These programs begin with 30 minutes of short updates on important economic events of the last month. Then Wolff analyzes several major economic issues.

When time permits, he opens the floor to questions and comments. His goal is to develop the participants understanding and ability to explain, current economic events and trends to others.

STATE OF THE ARTS
The program is a weekly show where various sectors of NYC's arts worlds converge to report and analyze the dynamic state of the arts and its participants. 

Hosted by Savona Bailey-McClain, long-time Executive Director of the West Harlem Art Fund (WHAF), she confronts, analyzes and celebrates victories, challenges and changes in the country's dynamic creative capital. 

Reports from the field; from the far-flung fringes; from center stage and from behind the scenes-- the host Savona Bailey-McClain draws on her 20 years' in the trenches to bring you snapshot after snapshot in living color. 
 
It airs on WBAI on Fridays from 5-6 p.m.
