MOWSF Senior Nina lives by herself. The 78-year-old, who started receiving meals from Meals On Wheels of San Francisco in January, spent this New Year's Eve in the hospital. As this is usually an extra special holiday in her native Latvia, Nina was sad to spend the evening without any of the usual festivities. For Valentine's Day, MOWSF gave valentines and a special gift bag to more than 2,200 seniors. Thousands of handmade scarves and hats from the annual Knit for St. Anthony's project were wrapped up by volunteers like a group of resident adviser students at the University of San Francisco. The gifts were then delivered with cards and chocolates by our drivers and social workers. Read More �

"San Francisco Seniors Remember" is a collaborative oral history project between MOWSF, the University of San Francisco (USF) and StoryCorps. Last November, Brown & Toland Physicians employees rolled up their sleeves and assembled 14,000 servings of lentil casserole for Meals On Wheels of San Francisco's seniors. We are still hearing back from our clients about how much they loved this delicious gift. The easy-to-make meal came in a bag containing perfectly proportioned amounts of lentils, rice, dried vegetables and Himalayan salt. Read More �

Senior Support Volunteer Trainings: Feb. 19 & 21; March 11 & 21; and April 15 Become a Friendly Visitor, Grocery Shopper, or take part in our Home Safety and Home Project Leader programs!
Week night trainings are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sports Basement's Bryant Street Store ( 1590 Bryant St., SF).

Food Delivery Volunteer Training: Feb. 25 Deliver bags of groceries to low-income seniors on Wednesdays or help our meal delivery staff drop off meals during the weekday. 28th Annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala: April 19 One of the finest epicurean events of the year, the Gala features an impressive roster of the Bay Area's top restaurants and wineries. The event begins with a wine, cocktail and hors d'oeuvre reception, followed by a three-course dinner with live auction. A lavish dessert reception and dancing wind up the evening. Open House + Kitchen Tour: May 14 Learn more about MOWSF and meet other good neighbors who are helping care for homebound seniors in our community.
