MOWSF senior Paulette, who will turn 70 this fall, has prettied her small room at a San Francisco residential hotel in pink. There are pink sparkles in the rugs, pink curtains on the windows and a pink blanket on her bed. Paulette has lived here for two years. She likes that she has a private bathroom, a large closet and three windows that look down onto a busy San Francisco street. "We each get a window," she says, referring to herself and her two cats Poppy and Baby Girl. Since Paulette's daughter passed away two years ago, her cats have offered her much-needed comfort. Since this spring, MOWSF has been working to make sure the seniors it serves are prepared in the case of an earthquake or other disaster. On June 6, employees at Twitter volunteered to help in the effort by delivering Disaster Preparedness Kits to 150 elderly San Franciscans. About 40 Twitter employees participated as part of the company's #Fridayforgood program. The volunteers delivered the kits to residents in the areas surrounding Twitter's headquarters on Market Street in SoMa. The Disaster Preparedness Kits, which were purchased via a grant from the City of San Francisco, contain enough food and water for a senior to use for two days. Read More �
