 Mayor's Corner
Greetings!
The Second Annual Marble Falls Antique Crawl will take place this coming Saturday (9/10/16) 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Proceeds from the $10 ticket sales will benefit the Helping Center, which provides food to those in need in our area. There will be 20+ participating stores with discounts, giveaways, presentations and demos throughout the day. Tickets are available now at Dragonfly Gifts, 1103 FM 1431. Checks should be payable to The Helping Center.
Mark your calendar for Flu Shots at Meadowlakes City Hall on Thursday, Sept. 29th - from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Be sure to bring your insurance card! The line moves quickly, and you can meet and visit with your neighbors while you wait your turn. First come, first serve.
This is the time of year when our street gutters seem to stay full of overflowing plants plus dead leaves, etc. Technically, it is the responsibility of each resident to keep their own gutters clear - even though much of the debris may have washed downhill to your home. This is especially important in the pecan orchard area at this time. This year's extra rainfall seems to have overloaded the trees with leaves and pecans - even more than usual, and they (unfortunately) are already starting to fall. It is a constant but necessary battle to keep the limbs trimmed so they don't block school bus and garbage truck traffic. Speaking of garbage trucks, during my walk this past Friday I noticed some garbage containers turned the wrong way. The wheels need to be backed up to the curb and the bar must be facing and parallel to the street because the truck uses that bar to lift and empty the container.
I've been asked about the huge blocks of stone on the left side of the street as you enter the POA boat ramp and picnic area. Soon, those stones will form a new wall on the opposite side of that street, replacing the overgrown and tumbling down much smaller grey stones that are there now. That entire area is owned by the POA, and City workers will be installing the new wall as time allows. Right now, the lots mowed by the City for the POA are growing like crazy (actually, like our yards), so there hasn't been time to clear the gutters and stack the new stones.

Property Owners Association Annual Meeting - Saturday, October 8th
The Association Annual Meeting of members will be held on Saturday, October 8th, at 10 AM in the restaurant at Hidden Falls Golf Course. All members are invited and requested to attend. The Annual Meeting will include reports of the financial position of the Association and the new budget, our continuing efforts and plans to maintain our streets and fences, our RV storage facility, our security gate, and our welcoming and recreation activities. Also, the members at the Annual Meeting will need to affirm the existing Bylaws of the Association approved at the 2009 Annual Meeting for recording in property records of the county.
Each year, Association members elect members of the Board of Directors of the Association during the Annual Meeting. This year there are 3 vacancies on the Association's Board of Directors for election of candidates. A nominating committee has nominated 5 candidates for the 3 positions. The candidates are Len Fate, Bill Pond, Bill Raman, Amy Reeves, and Joe Summers. Each property owner has received mail notification of the Annual Meeting, biographies of the candidates, and absentee ballot, for those that cannot attend and vote.
While the committee has nominated these 5 candidates, our Bylaws provide that members in attendance at the Annual Meeting may nominate additional candidates from the floor for vote at that time. Please review the biographies and, if you do not know the candidates, talk to neighbors who may know the candidates. Vote either absentee or in person at the Annual Meeting for your choice of candidates.
