"We get so worried about being pretty. Let's be pretty kind, pretty funny, pretty smart, pretty strong."

Mayor's Corner
Greetings!

Lots of Marble Falls info today, based on a recent meeting I attended:
The design for the new MF Police Dept. building on Avenue N is 95% done - not sure when they'll break ground. The City of Burnet also is preparing to build a new Police Dept. and the Burnet County Jail is contracting to house prisoners from all over Texas (Federal prisons plus Kerrville, Hamilton, etc.). Burnet County is working with State of Texas to remove the State offices, especially the Texas Drivers' License office, from the Burnet County South Annex. The County needs to provide more room for Judge Bindseil and other county needs. The State is close to contracting for different offices in Marble Falls.

The target opening date for the new Bealls (a $5M project) is April 2017. Then, HEB (a $20M project) hopes to be open by the end of 2017, at which time the current HEB building will be removed and the parking lot expanded...so we have about a year and a half to deal with upheaval.
By now, you have probably heard that Burger King will build on the SW corner of 281 and 1431 after the current NAPA business is removed. Chick-Fil-A (is that how you spell it?) has submitted plans for a new building to open early in 2017 at the corner of 281 and Commerce (former site of Edgar Funeral Home). Why oh why can't we get a Golden Corral out here???

Some of the new Marble Falls housing developments: The Homestead at Mormon Mill - 70 units to start, ultimately 150 units. Gregg Ranch: the City expects plans to be filed by end of 2016 for the 300+ acres, with 240 residential units on the west side of 281 and 40+ more units on the east side of 281. That cloverleaf intersection of 71 and 281 will need major updating, in my opinion. Mustang Ridge - they expect a plat soon for 180 acres with 100 homes located north of 1431 and west of MFHS. Westlake Dermatology will build a 3,000 sq. ft. ($1.3 M) office, which is to open in 2017 and will be located south of MF on 281 at the Max Starke Dam Road. Go to the Marble Falls website at http://cc.marble-falls.tx.us for details.

The new Marble Falls Conference Center's first meeting with the chosen developer will be in Oct. The plan is for around 16,000 square feet in the Conference Center plus a 150 room hotel. They expect to break ground in the Yett/Main Street area by April 2017 and to have everything completed in 2018. The name of the hotel is to be announced soon. MF plans to abandon the Ave. H boat ramp, in cooperation with TX DOT. To support all of this growth, the MF Water Plant is to be expanded (at a cost of $3.95 Million). Their current facilities are now treating 3 million gallons per day, and after expansion, they will be able to treat 4.8 million gallons per day.

Friendly Reminder to Pet Owners

Dealing with pet waste is one of those topics that every pet owner must deal with. We encourage residence to please clean up after their pet(s) every time they go to the bathroom when on City or other residence properties. Defecation by pets on the
roads or property other than their residence is unlawful. All animal solid waste is to be removed and disposed of in a sanitary manner. It is recommended you carry a pet waste bag when walking your pet(s). The use of pet waste bags will only take a few minutes of your time and make the streets of Meadowlakes a more enjoyable place for walks. You can view a full list of the City's Animal Control Ordinances at www.meadowlakestexas.org. Your continued cooperation in keeping Meadowlakes a beautiful and pleasant place to live is appreciated.
