 Mayor's Corner
Greetings!
Meadowlakes is surrounded by the City of Marble Falls. Since I expect much of our purchasing happens in Marble Falls stores, a lot (maybe the majority) of the sales taxes paid by Meadowlakes residents each year go to Marble Falls. Marble Falls recognizes the importance of the sales taxes paid by Meadowlakes residents, and they are including us in a survey they will use to prepare for the future, especially about their parks. I found the process to be educational, especially the maps of the various parks. If you can spare 30 to 45 minutes, please respond to their survey at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/marblefallsparksplan For more information concerning the "Marble Falls Park, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan Update" see www.marblefallstx.gov.
As an additional incentive, if you complete this survey by August 31, 2016, you will be able to enter a drawing for the chance to win two (2) FiestaJAM 2016 VIP Tickets or an iPhone 5s 16GB (Verizon). All survey answers will remain confidential and your information will not be sold or used for solicitation.
If you need me (or maybe a dog to add to your family) this coming Friday between 9:00 AM and noon, you can find both at the Highland Lakes SPCA's adoption event at Hope Animal Clinic (go south on Hwy 281 - Hope is on the left/east side just before the Hwy 71 intersection). HLSPCA will have a few of their wonderful adoptable dogs available for the public to meet. Please tell your family and friends in the local area about the event! It actually is relatively cool in the breezeway between the clinic and the barn for large animals.
The next City Council meeting will be next week - Tuesday, August 16th - 5:00 PM at City Hall.

Either a planner or a doer... your help is needed! The demographic of Meadowlakes is changing, with the average age decreasing rapidly, and we are on the road to creating more fun community events for kid's ages 0-99, but we need you! There is a recreational & social planning sub-committee in the works as part of the POA. This sub-committee will be in charge of putting together several wonderful family friendly community activities throughout the year, starting with a harvest festival on November 12th. I am spearheading this group and looking for committee members and volunteers! For the committee....at least five Meadowlakes residents are needed to help come up with great ideas and execute them, from concept to event. There is also a huge need for event volunteers...one hour or every time...any amount is appreciated. The committee level commitment is one or two fun-filled evenings a month for dinner together and planning and assisting with the events (approximately 2-3 the initial year). Volunteers will be on-call for events. If you are interested in either a committee or event volunteer spot, please contact me directly by email ( aboulch18@hotmail.com) or cell (928-231-3918). The first meeting will be Thursday, August 11, 6PM. Cheers, Amy Reeves
