" A kind word is like a Spring day"

~ Russian Proverb

Mayor's Corner
Greetings!

I am really glad I gave up trying to mow my own yard several years ago. I think I would have had to be out there twice a week this spring. At least everything is green and growing. Some of our neighbors are not here all the time - and some apparently do not have lawn services. In such cases, the City will be sending out reminder letters regarding the Meadowlakes yard maintenance requirements which are designed to enhance everyone's property values.
Street gutters must remain clear at all times, but especially during the rainy season to prevent mini-dams from forming when grass, weeds, limbs, etc. block the flow and causing street flooding.

Just a reminder: Beginning with our May meeting, the City Council meetings have been moved to the THIRD Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM. The City's next fiscal year will begin on October 1, 2016. I know it seems early, but the Council soon will begin to hold special work sessions, with public participation encouraged, as we start to prepare the FY 2017 budget (and beyond). NOTE: To accommodate this change, the POA Board voted to move its meetings to the SECOND Tuesday at 7:00 PM, usually with a workshop the day before the meeting.

The City's "Capital Improvements Committee" will be presenting its report in May. Their work will be invaluable in assisting the Council in planning for the future of Meadowlakes. We are very grateful for their contributions!

Finally, the city-wide speed limit is a maximum of 25 MPH - and in some areas, it is 20 MPH. We have no sidewalks, but we have lots of citizens who enjoy walking our beautiful streets. STOP signs mean "come to a complete stop" - not a slow roll-through. Texting is not allowed while driving. We all know it is impossible, even if we had full-time police officers on duty, to enforce these laws, but for the safety of our friends and neighbors, it is important that everyone complies.

Snake Awareness

The season is here when snakes like to start moving around and being seen. We would like to remind residents to be on the look out for snakes when you are out and about.  Snakes can be hiding in flower beds, on porches, under decks, in meter and utility boxes, and even in mailboxes.
So please be careful and be aware!
